Absolutely the most rude and arrogant business we've ever dealt with. Called to reserve something and was told a price twice what was listed on the website. When I questioned it, she said she knew that it was 'wrong' on the website, but 'tough' was the answer we were given. She literally laughed at us on the phone. Will NEVER give them another dime of my money again. If I could give a negative review rating, I would. 0 is too high for this business.
I had always tried to rent locally and keep my money on the island, but now I see no reason too since this is how they treat their customers.
Rented a grill.Was very very dissappointed. My husband made a mistake and took his walltet to the beach returned it home, left it inside the grill instead of taking it upstairs. The grill was in a well protected place. Julies picked up the grill 3 day early and took the wallet. When I called about the wallet it was returned with out the money in it! They would not do anything about it! Do not trust this buisness.
This is a terrible place to get a bike, the bikes are a piece of junk. I rented a bike and the handle bars were so loose they were difficult to use and unsafe while riding the bike. In a separate incident, my sister was here and this guy comes walking under the house and went into a storage area and starting running with our bag of charcoal and lighter fluid. Once he was spotted by my sister he ran to a truck which had a sign on it that read "Julie's Rentals" and put the stolen items in his truck. When we went to Julie's to confront them they claimed that they had no knowledge of this but later admitted they took the charcoal and gave it back along with a bottle of lighter fluid (which was not the original bottle). During the discussion they actually asked what kind of charcoal did we have because they evidently had many bags of charcoal. They said to us every saturday they go to the beach houses when people leave and they take the charcoal that is in the other beach houses sheds. Sunset Beach is a beautiful community that should take action to ensure that the businesses that profit on tourism, treat the visitors with respect. Negative interactions with the businesses on the island may damage its reputation and cause regular visitors to spend their money at different beaches in area.
We have been renting from Julie's rentals for years. You name it bikes, kayaks, grills, etc... We always brought our kids bikes down and rented the bikes for the adults due to packing restraints. This yeah my daughter's bike needed air, when we went up to use their pump they stated that they did not have one. I find it hard that you can run a bike rental without a bike air pump. We have used theirs in past years so I know they were lying.
Absolutely awful. We have been staying here in Sunset Beach for about nine years and have never tried to rent anything from them until this year. My family and I tried to rent a kayak, but were told they only deliver to houses on Saturday. When I asked how we were meant to transfer the kayak to our home, the lady snarkily said "You have a car right?" when we explained that our car was not big enough to fit a double kayak, she laughed and said "tough". Spend your money elsewhere. This place is terrible.
